2004.06.17 Memorial Health Care System Enlists Alliance’s Services
Mobile, Alabama - June 15, 2004 – Memorial Health Care System, Inc., a Chattanooga-based healthcare organization comprised of hospitals, clinics, and a physician network, has entered into a telecommunications management agreement with Alliance Communications Management. Under the terms of the agreement, Alliance will provide Memorial and its practice management group, Mountain Management Services, with its entire suite of telecommunications management services.
With the majority of its telecommunications contracts up for renewal, Memorial engaged Alliance to help them evaluate their options and negotiate final agreements. Through a 10-step process, Alliance provided Memorial with solutions to significantly reduce operating costs while improving reliability and contract flexibility. The adopted solution resulted in a 53% reduction in monthly cost, achievement of 1-time credits, and elimination of restrictive conditions found in traditional volume & term agreements. Through Alliance’s iterative process, Memorial has been able to gain significant benefits without having to change carriers thus minimizing potential disruption of services.
“Prior to engaging Alliance, we believed that our services were not competitively priced but we did not have the tools or the resources to evaluate appropriately ,” said Carol Newton, Memorial’s chief financial officer. “At each step of the process, Alliance was better prepared and had more information than the carriers. They were able to advance our cause in a professional manner based upon data analysis. In the end, we were presented with 2 solutions that yielded savings over 50% while improving quality.”
Upon completion of the assessment and contract negotiations, Memorial engaged Alliance’s suite of management services (Alliance TeleManagement Service & Alliance Unify Billing Service) to manage the carrier relationships, resolve service related issues, provision new services, and audit/allocate telecommunications charges. As part of these management services, Alliance has also helped Memorial’s subsidiary, Mountain Management Services, reduce their cost while providing the physician practices “help desk” support. Mountain Management’s monthly cost will be reduced by 15-25% (net of Alliance’s fees) while providing significant managerial support services to the practices.
“It is a rare privilege to be able to partner with an organization whose entire focus is on serving the community,” states Rob Hunter, president and chief executive officer of Alliance. “This relationship is a perfect fit based on mutual trust. Memorial is able to focus their resources on the critical components of healthcare while Alliance provides telecommunications management support to keep cost and quality aligned with Memorial’s vision.”
